Since 1955 Rotary Storyland & Playland has been “committed to affordable entertainment for children & families throughout the Central Valley.” An argument can be made that there has been no single season since its beginning, in which that mission has been more relevant than the upcoming season beginning February 14, 2009. In an effort to help families throughout the Central Valley, Rotary Storyland & Playland are launching a new initiative to help families spend quality time together at an affordable price.

In a promotion the park is calling “Recession “Blast”ter:” Storyland & Playland want guests to have a BLAST at the parks all spring and will be offering its Unlimited Day Passes for Storyland & Playland for just $10 per person. That is a discount of $5.50 (or 35%) per day pass. The directors of the parks understand the risk involved in lowering the prices so dramatically, however, more importantly they feel a responsibility in an economic downturn to ensure families feel they can still utilize the parks at a price they can afford. Storyland & Playland are trusting they will be able to make up the loss in revenue with more visitors to the parks in 2009 by spreading the word about the discount.
“When all is said and done, Storyland & Playland exists to provide a world-class experience for our guests at a price families can afford. With the economy as it is, we feel lowering our prices as families are struggling is the right thing to do.”
2008 was a banner year for Rotary Storyland & Playland with record attendance and the completion of nearly $600,000 in new improvements. Beginning next Saturday, February 14th, both parks will be open every weekend throughout the spring from 10:30am-5:30pm. This week the parks are putting the finishing touches on many more improvements before it’s opening next weekend. Improvements include painting, concrete, major landscaping renovations & a brand new Birthday Pavilion at Rotary Playland called Baxter Pavilion. In total, the parks expect at least another $250,000 in improvements to be completed in 2009 including a complete remodel of the train station.

I am the owner and only person that runs FresnoFamily.com. I created this site in 2001 for myself to fill a need, and it's continued to be useful to our community so I continue to develop and grow it! It is a labor of love. I am a homeschooling, work-at-home mama of 2 teens, living in Fresno with her goofy husband and 4 much-adored kitties, just trying to survive the heat in the summers and find things to do with our family that doesn't take too much of our very stretched pocketbook. And sharing info and ideas here with you. I also run several other online homeschooling businesses, including HomeschoolRealm.com and TinasLearningAdventures.com, and run the largest and most active local homeschool Facebook group, the Fresno Area Homeschoolers group, among other online groups.
