Local Doulas

A doula is a birth assistant…”a trained and experienced professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to the mother before, during and just after birth; or who provides emotional and practical support during the postpartum period.” (From DONA International) They can help in both hospital and homebirths.
Below are local doulas that are available to help local moms (and they are usually amazing support for dads as well!) with their births. A doula is NOT a midwife and does NOT deliver babies. You will need a doctor or midwife for the actual delivery.

I am a certified birth and postpartum doula who serves families in Fresno, Clovis, and the surrounding areas.  I love integrating the themes of inclusivity, creativity,  and authenticity into my birth work.  I honor and respect all family dynamics and methods of starting a family.  Some of my biggest passions include: providing lactation support, mental health, and community activism. I believe that the success of any community begins with healthy families. I’m also passionate about pospartum mood and anxiety disorders  and am committed to helping spread education about them throughout the community so parents can easily access the help they deserve.  Please feel free to check out my website at www.allfamiliesdoula.com, or find me on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/allfamiliesdoulaservices.

I am doula and placenta encapsulation specialist serving Fresno, CA and surrounding locations. I became a doula because I have a love and passion for knowledge, birth, and families. I love supporting families birthing goals, and providing resources that best fits their wants and needs. As a doula, I am unbiased and your hopes and dreams are my hopes and dreams. I love providing comfort and support to you and your birthing partner in this important time in your life. I trained with Tiny Love Doula at the beginning of 2016 and have had a wonderful experience with their organization. Also, summer of 2016 I trained with International Placenta and Postpartum Association and became a certified placenta specialist. I know from personal experience the profound impact the placenta capsules had during my postpartum time, and I have seen many positive outcomes for other women. I am a childbirth educator/mentor (Birthing From Within), a birth doula, a postpartum doula and lactation counselor. I consider myself to be on the Welcoming Committee for these new souls coming to our world. I am a responsible, nurturing, attentive woman focused on helping families navigate the labyrinthine journey of pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum “fourth trimester.” The more I study child development, the more I become aware of the importance of the perinatal period (pregnancy, birth, and postpartum). This precious time lays the foundation for trust and connection that can affect each of us throughout our life. My goal is to help families gently integrate and celebrate their newest additions into the family, and I see the work of the childbirth mentor/doula as the perfect arena to support families. I truly believe in women’s instincts and the ability of families to make healthy decisions when they are supported and feel safe. I choose to work with families in the perinatal period because it is an area where I can use the best of my skills: empathic listening, honest communication, compassion, and nurturing caregiving. Visit www.FresnoDoula.com for more information. Contact me at Melissa@FresnoDoula.com or (559) 284-7038.

As a birth doula and childbirth educator, my job is to help a woman and her partner achieve the birth they want and to support the couple’s wishes and goals.  While your doula, I promise I will not let you suffer, I will always tell the truth, and nothing you can say or do in labor will disappoint me or hurt my feelings. As a person who has given birth myself, I believe it is one of the most awesome events God has especially created for women.  Education and continuous support are the keys to achieving a natural birthing experience.  Please feel free to contact me via phone 559-579-1252 or e-mail (doulasantos@yahoo.com).  My services are available for women in Fresno and surrounding cities.
