Pregnancy & Birth :
Sara B's Homebirth Story

Greyden came on Aug. 5 2003 at 1:45 in the morning. My labor started sat evening around 7 after the most incredible Thai food I've ever had. My contractions were great and steady until about 3 in the morning and then they went to about 20 min apart to let me sleep. I woke up to stronger contractions Sun morning about 3 min apart then got a little stronger in the evening and slowed around 1 in the morning to let me sleep again. Mon I slept until 11am and then started the walking and cuddling to get them good and going again. I had told my Mom and Chris that it felt as if the contractions just couldn't grip that maybe if we broke the water they could do more. I was right at around 8pm we broke the water and he slammed right down and finished up the last part of labor. I moved into transition around 12 or 12:30 and it lasted about 1/2 an hour I did ask to go to the hospital and for drugs!! and was laughed at! I did get some wine and that did the trick, It took the top edge off the contractions and got me to pushing. The burn was the most intense thing I have ever felt in my life. It is truly indescribable. I now have an appreciation for every woman who has gone through the burn and even more for those who did it on land. I wouldn't have my sanity I think if it hadn't been for the water at that point.I didn't use the water as much for the rest of the labor just really the birth and part of transition.

I didn't tear my perineum, I got a little tear on my upper labia because his hand was coming out with his head. But it's small and already healing. He is so sweet and it was all worth it.

Chris did the most amazing job through out, being so tender and nurturing. He truly felt helpless and was very glad that my Mom was there to ask questions and to confirm that he was seeing the different stages. I'm so blessed to have him as my husband. He also helped make a really cute baby.

Greyden Phillipp Badger-Howard was 10pound 1oz. (huge) 22inches long. And so cute that you just stare at him! that could just be me but whatever. You try not to when you meet him.LOL.

Proud New Mom

Sara
