I used to be an intern at
SCICON Outdoor School in Tulare County (1996-1997
school year). Because of that FANTASTIC experience, I
discovered the world of "outdoor ed" or "experiential
education". Simply put, this is hands-on learning in an
outdoor, natural environment. Usually involving a
combination of the subjects of: environment, nature and
science. The key here being HANDS-ON.
There are a LOT of these sort of
programs
throughout California and even the
entire
U.S. The info I'm gathering here is specific to
California homeschoolers.
I'll also add family summer camp
type programs here...as sometimes there are educational
elements involved in these as well.
