hey moms and dads, i hope you don’t mind me picking your brains…

many of you know me from the fresnoAPmommies or babyfest or this site (fresnofamily)… but i’m also on the board of trustees for the discovery center.

i’m so in the zone of TDC lately.

i am the one on the board that represents y’all. i mean, i’m the only thirty-something, mom of young kids, who directly benefits from the center. the rest of the board is older (except for one, i think), and if they have kids, they are grown.

so i see this as a HUGE responsibility…because i essentially am YOU, on the board. i speak for you. this is why they brought me on board.

so i am on a major thinking jag lately (check out the latest entries in my blog and you’ll see how obsessed i am: www.tinasrealm.blogspot.com) and i want to hear from YOU.

i need to know from you fellow mommies and daddies… not only what your experience has been at TDC in the past and especially more recently…but i need to know what you would like for our community.

what do YOU want for YOUR family and YOUR kids? specifically at the discovery center, but also in our community as a whole…from the places (which i personally view as very few and far between) that are available locally for our kids…the nonprofits: storyland, playland, the zoo, the met…also the public parks, the for-profit businesses such as bounce u/pump it up, swim america, boomer, blackbeard’s, the various water parks and play areas…anything that has our kids in mind as its primary customers…

i know what *I* want…more places to take my children that are free or low expense…places that i can go on a whim and don’t have to sign up for a class or pay a huge membership fee for…places that are quality environments that enrich my children’s childhoods with educational and hands-on and, especially, FUN…things that we can do together and ENJOY together (not like chuck e cheese, which most of us loathe)…things that don’t feel old and neglected, things that feel like they really care about my kids…things that show that there’s been real thinking and heart put into the development of the program and facility…and especially, people that work with my children that have real heart and kindness and zest for life and a love of children…some that might even be able to develop a relationship with my kids through their programs (teacher jill, by the way, embodies this for me in her music together classes…she ROCKS!)

this is what *I* want….what do YOU want???

as i said…i speak for YOU at the discovery center…i SERIOUSLY want to know what YOU want for your families and your children.
